Eric Hangen

Eric Hangen is the Director of Climate Finance at the Center for Impact Finance at the Carsey School of Public Policy, where he studies climate finance in low-income communities.

Eric has worked in community development for 30 years. For over 20 years he has run I Squared Community Development Consulting, a national, boutique consulting practice focused on social impact finance. Clients have included the Urban Institute, LISC, NeighborWorks America, the Center for Housing Policy, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and over 100 other community development and community development finance organizations across the United States. Throughout his career, he has promoted initiatives at the intersection of community development and climate mitigation, including helping to launch home energy efficiency and solar programs in Vermont and Puerto Rico, leading the development of the CIF-Inclusiv Green and Solar Lending Professional Training Program and training programs for the U.S. Department of Energy Community Power Accelerator. He served on the U.S. EPA Environmental Finance Advisory Board and advised on the design of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.

Eric has a Master's in Public Policy from Harvard University and a Bachelor's in Environmental Studies from Brown University.
