Megan Brabec, '13, '19G

Current position: Coordinator of Civic & Community Engagement, University of New Hampshire
Previous position: Program Director, Women's Fund of New Hampshire
Carsey Degree: Master of Public Administration

"The program allowed me to meet people doing great work around the state, and it helped me build up tangible skills that allow me to serve my community more effectively and efficiently."

Can you share a few sentences that describe your capstone and/or internship experience at UNH?

I did my capstone with the Women's Recovery Program at Strafford County Department of Corrections. I collected information about after-care resources for the women to pursue upon release. It was a great opportunity to learn more about addiction recovery and to meet local nonprofit leaders.

What advice do you have for people considering a graduate degree from the Carsey School?

You get out of the program what you put into it. Be intentional about the electives you take and learn all you can from the faculty and from your classmates. You'll get to meet some really impressive people, so soak it all in!

What are one or two career goals you have for yourself?

I can see the skills I developed in the MPA program being useful in a number of different roles. I am interested in possibly working in nonprofit leadership, or maybe in a culture-management position in the private sector.
