~(MPA) Student Faithe Miller Lakowicz — Concord, NH
Wanting to combine her passions for education and fostering a healthy work environment, Faith Miller Lakowicz sought a Master of Public Administration (MPA) program that aligned with her career goals. She found the perfect fit at the Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire. Enrolling in the MPA program in 2023, Faith is now preparing to graduate and reflecting on how her studies have strengthened her role as a manager at the Concord Public Library.
“I think, all in all, the MPA program has truly made me a better manager. I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how different parts of government work together. Working in city government, I see things from my desk and meetings, but I didn’t enter this program knowing the best practices for public administration. I knew I was a public servant, but I didn’t fully grasp the theory behind it. Learning how to apply expert knowledge in the field to my work has been incredibly valuable—both as a student and as a professional.”
Faith credits the Carsey School MPA program for providing valuable opportunities—such as participating in the 2025 D.C. Colloquium—while allowing her to balance full-time work. She highly recommends the online MPA program to professionals looking to advance their public service careers and develop leadership skills in government and nonprofit management.
Outside of her career and studies, Faith is dedicated to serving her community and church through volunteer work and enjoys spending time with her partner.
