Why Earn a Master of Public Administration from the Carsey School of Public Policy?

Advance Your Career: Our Master of Public Administration degree is designed for new graduates and working professionals who want to pursue the preferred credential for the public and nonprofit sectors. As an MPA student, you'll learn theoretical concepts and engage in experiential learning in all aspects of nonprofit and government-related management, including leadership, program evaluation, budgets, planning, personnel, collective bargaining, and policy analysis. You'll learn how to run an organization; how to effectively address issues important to your region; and how to oversee the provision and delivery of public services through towns, cities, state agencies, nonprofits, and non-governmental organizations.

The 16-month Public Administration program is offered in person at the UNH Manchester campus in the evenings and online, with additional elective courses offered at the UNH Durham campus.

Application deadlines:

  • Fall: March 15 (for Carsey School Scholarship; July 1 (preferred); August 15 (final)
  • Spring: December 15
  • Summer: April 15

Applying What You Learn

In the Master of Public Administration program, you'll complete a capstone project, allowing you to directly apply what you learn in the classroom while building connections in the field.

Past MPA students have completed capstone projects with nonprofits; higher education institutions; and a variety of municipal, state, national and international agencies, among them the City of Concord, the NH Alliance for Healthy Aging, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Embassy of El Salvador.
