As a bilingual (Spanish/English) professional, she has successfully navigated local, regional, and national environments. Her expertise includes leading outreach initiatives, strategic communications, and producing clear, impactful content that resonates with diverse audiences.
She excels in implementing social marketing and communications campaigns designed to drive behavioral change and improve community outcomes. She led the implementation of New England’s Emergency Preparedness Regional Youth Council, and she managed national communications for two major housing programs, significantly increasing audience engagement and visibility through online tools and social media.
Ms. Varela's early career included leadership roles in community development and financial literacy. Her involvement in one of New Hampshire’s Community Development Financial Institutions led to significant impacts in individual development accounts and business and financial literacy among underserved populations. Ms. Varela is recognized for her community organizing skills and her commitment to enhancing community resilience through effective communication and collaboration.

She holds a Master of Science in Community Economic Development with High Honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Magna Cum Laude.
