During his first 100 days in office, President Biden has been building his administration, addressing the health and economic crises, and begun to implement his agenda. Join a conversation with Ellen Fitzpatrick, Rich Ashooh ’86, Ella Nilsen ’13, and Ryan Gibson – moderated by Carsey School Director Michael Ettlinger – as they discuss what the new administration has done and what that says about next steps.
About the Panelists:
Ellen Fitzpatrick, Professor of History, UNH College of Liberal Arts – A professor and scholar specializing in modern American political and intellectual history, Ellen Fitzpatrick is the author and editor of eight books, including The Highest Glass Ceiling: Women's Quest for the American Presidency and the New York Times bestselling, Letters to Jackie: Condolences from a Grieving Nation and History’s Memory: Writing America’s Past, 1880-1980.
Rich Ashooh '86, VP, Global Government Affairs, Lam Research – Rich Ashooh is the Vice President of Global Government Affairs for Lam Research Corporation, a world leader in the development of advanced semiconductor production equipment. Prior to this, he served as the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration until July 2020.
Ella Nilsen '13, White House Reporter for Vox – Prior to joining Vox, Ella Nilsen interned for New Hampshire Public Radio and worked at Foster's Daily Democrat. She has also worked as a full-time reporter for The Keene Sentinel and the Concord Monitor.
Ryan Gibson, Postdoctoral Research Associate in Sociology, UNH – Ryan Gibson researches the psychology of race and racism, probing how individuals internalize ideas of race and how those ideas then affect our lives. Much of his work examines the intersections of race and mental health.
About the Moderator: Michael Ettlinger is the founding director of the Carsey School of Public Policy coming to UNH in 2014 after many years working in Washington, D.C. think-tanks.
