Steve Brown began his working life as high school teacher and coach. After seventeen years in the classroom, puzzled by how slowly schools were to adapt to a changing world, he left classroom to study the dynamics of change in organizations and communities. Upon completing his course of study, he moved to New Hampshire, where his wife started an oyster farm and he helped launch College for America, Southern New Hampshire University’s competency-based program for working adults. He then joined SNHU’s Innovation Center, where he coached leaders, teams, and cross-functional groups as they worked to make sense of and design solutions to their challenges; partnered with the university’s training and development department to deliver programs for leading in complexity; and helped the university’s executive leadership team develop and act on strategic foresight. Since leaving the university in 2021, he works to help individuals, communities and organizations engage constructively with the powerful dynamics shaping the future.
