Chris Colocousis is a sociologist with interests in environment-society interactions, community change and development, and social stratification. His particular focus is on natural resource–dependent communities.
Chris received his doctoral degree in sociology from the University of New Hampshire in 2010. He received his undergraduate degree from Stonehill College, then served in the Americorps National Civilian Community Corps before obtaining his master's degree in sociology at UNH. At Carsey, Chris worked as a research assistant in the Poverty, Community, and Environment program. His doctoral thesis examined the social, economic, and environmental factors shaping redevelopment in a Northern Forest community historically reliant on the pulp and paper industry. He is currently an assistant professor of sociology at James Madison University.
