What was your most valuable takeaway from your master's program?
The master's program taught me how important networking is. Being able to create and maintain relationships has proven to be invaluable when I am thinking about my career progression, or even when I just need to get something done.
What type of internship did you complete while working toward your master's degree?
I interned with the U.S. Department of State while completing my Master in Public Policy at the Carsey School. This experience not only allowed me to stay with the State Department full-time after I graduated, but also gave me an opportunity to apply what I was learning in the classroom within real-life situations.
What are one or two career goals you have for yourself?
It is my goal to continue working in government and move into a field that is more related to my particular interests, like in human trafficking prevention or organized crime reduction. I plan to pursue a graduate certificate in international organized crime studies over the next year, and then move to a relevant field within the government.
