At the Center for Social Policy in Practice (SPiP), we use applied research to identify policy gaps and test solutions that drive resources where they’re needed most. Partnering with organizations across New Hampshire and New England, we analyze existing policies and explore new approaches to support underserved communities. From strengthening early childhood education to expanding food access and addressing poverty, our work is grounded in data, collaboration, and impact.
Projects
- With support from the Couch Family Foundation, the Carsey School has established the New Hampshire Early Care and Education Research Consortium.
- By combining data from dozens of sources, we tested a new approach to measuring child care supply and demand that can offer states more specific goalposts as they strengthen and stabilize their early childhood sectors.
- Through a partnership with the UNH Food Systems Lab, we are working on two USDA-funded projects to identify how to make local foods more accessible to New England consumers. Find the research briefs that we developed using data from interviews and workshops with farmers and stakeholders here.
