Victoria Banyard is a is a Master in Public Policy faculty member and Senior Faculty Fellow at the Carsey School of Public Policy. She collaborates and consults on Carsey research projects related to interpersonal violence victimization. She is training to be a facilitator for New Hampshire Listens.
Victoria is a professor in the psychology department at the University of New Hampshire where she teaches courses in community psychology, domestic and sexual violence, and supervises undergraduate interns working in community settings. She received a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Michigan. Her research focus is on the long-term consequences of traumatic stress including resilience in the face of adversity. In her research, Dr. Banyard has examined coping strategies and strengths of families who are struggling with poverty, explored recovery from exposure to interpersonal violence, and she has focused on understanding how community engagement can be a key facet of violence prevention. She is on the editorial board of the journal Psychology of Violence and is a senior associate editor for the journal Child Abuse and Neglect.
